Dr. D.S. Liyanage | Chairman

Dr.D.S.Liyanage received his Hony Doctorate in Management from the University of Victoria, U.S.A. He holds a Diploma in Social Work.

 

By career he is a freelance consultant in community development. He is a senior retired Govt. servant, attached to the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, implementing a special programme to rehabilitate youth involved in the 1971 youth insurrection in Sri Lanka.

 

He served as the Hony: General Secretary, Vice president of Sarvodaya movement and served in the Board of Directors.

 

He served as a Programme Officer of REDD BARNA-Sri Lanka and later as a consultant. Community Development and Training.

 

He was a founder member of The International Ogr and Agencies in Sri Lanka engaged in Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction during the period of ethnic unrest in Sri Lanka.

 

He was the Hony: Secretary of the Central Council of Social Service Sri Lanka, affiliated to the International Council of Social Welfare.

 

Dr. Liyanage served as a Senior Programme Officer of Sri Lanka Canada Development Fund and also served as a Student Supervisor of the National Institute of Social Development. He has participated in several international training programmes, seminars and workshops sponsored by U.N. and its agencies.

 

He is a Trainer of Trainees of the Coady International Institute of Saint Francis Xaviur University of Nova Scotia, Canada. Dr.Liyanage was a past president of Y.M.B.A. Ratmalana.

Dr. Senadheera Ariyasinghe | Director

Graduated from University of Colombo, with honours in 1972, offered  Philosophy (Special )  and English as the subsidiary subject. He  was  appointed as the Librarian of the Postgraduate  Institute of University of Kelaniya.  And later completed Masters in Philosophy from University of Peradeniya.  In 1996,  passed  Masters in Library and Information Science from University of Colombo  and Diploma in TESL  from National Institute of Education, Maharagama . In the year 1998 proceeded  to Australia   to follow the PhD in Library and Information Science in the University of New South Wales.

Mr Ariyasinghe has involved in  Social research  in a variety of  fields  such as Polio (with WHO)  Low cost housing  and Unemployment  (With Marga)  and   on Intra- family relations  (with Sociology  – University of Colombo  and the TV Corporation )  and  In the year 1995,  He  joined   Arthacharya  Organization   as a member of the Board of Directors.  He  conducted  the project  on the “Role of Library and Information networks in the Development of  library  and Information  services  in Sri Lanka”  This was funded by NARESA  in  1996-97.  He has   contributed  his  share  as a member  of Arthacarya  for the smooth implementation of the projects undertaken by both Artacharya and Arthavida  organizations.  

Our sharp analytical   skills  have been helpful  in numerous occasions  and diverse situations  and was greatly inspired by  the Buddhist  - Socio Economics in developing and refining the  Arthachaya’s  poverty alleviation Model. Our programme  have reached more than 35,000 families below the poverty line in eleven districts of the country.       

Mr. Ananda Wijesekara | Director

Ananda Wijesekara is a senior banking professional who was the Deputy General Manager of People’s Bank for a number of years. A graduate in Business Management.

Mr. Wijesekara has had extensive training in banking in several countries. 

Mr. Udayana Seneviratna | Director

Holds a B.A. Honors’ degree in Sociology, M.A in Sociology and Diploma in Psychology. Employed as a Project Assistant at International Irrigation Management Institute (IIMI), Research Assistant at Soil and Water Limited (FINNIDA), Field Executive at National Development Trust Fund (NDTF), Manager Corporate & Public Affairs at Sri Lanka Business Development Centre (SLBDC), Consultant at Research International (Pvt) Limited, Head of Customized Operations at Nielsen Lanka (Pvt) Limited, Executive Director – PepperCubes Consultants (Pvt) Limited  "

Mr. Charana Kanakegamage | Director

Mr, Charana Kanankegamage was appointed to the board on 26th October, 2017. Mr. Kanankegamage, an Attorney-at-Law, commenced his career as an Associate with M/s F.J. & G. de Saram, Attorneys-at-law in 2012. He reverted to independent legal practice in 2017. 

 

Mr. Kanankegamage graduated from the University of London with a degree in law and was enrolled as an Attorney-at-Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka in 2012. He is a life member of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka and the Colombo Law Society.

Mrs. Dilisha Perera | Director

Dilisha Perera is an old girl of Girl’s High School, Mount Lavinia where she completed her primary and secondary education. Thereafter she pursued a career in Secretarial practice and was successful in winning a world price in quantitative Techniques from the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators in 2004.

Dilisha counts over 20 years’ experience in company secretarial practice and consultancy services in reputed consultancy companies in Sri Lanka. She gained her initial practical experience from RNH Holdings (Pvt) Ltd. and managed her way through to the senior management level within a short span of 5 years. She has served as the Director / CEO of Frontier Secretarial Services (Pvt) Ltd. and currently serving as the Head of Secretarial Division of Kalrupco Management Services (Pvt) Ltd.  She specializes in providing consultancy services on all matters relating to Company Secretarial services involving different types of companies, maintaining statutory records, mergers and acquisitions etc. and handles a clientele involved in a wide range of business activities.    

Dr Chatura Rodrigo | Director

Dr Chatura Rodrigo is an Agriculture economist with over 15 years of experience in the fields of project management, monitoring and evaluation and value chain development. His research and program implementation work has been on establishing sustainable export-oriented value chain to promote poor and vulnerable producers as successful entrepreneurs. Dr Chatura provides his consultancies to the European Union, World bank, Asian Development Bank Institute and IFAD. Chatura is the founder of “Green Space Consultancies (GSC)”, a research think tank that focuses on sustainable agriculture and environment policies.

 

Chatura obtained his Bachelors of Science in Agriculture from University of Peradeniya followed by a Masters in Environment Economics from Institute of post graduate Studies of University of Peradeniya.  His second Masters is in Financial Economics from University of Colombo. He completed his third Masters and Doctor of Philosophy in Food Agriculture and Resource Economics from University of Guelph, Canada. 

Sathis de Mel | Advisor

Sathis de Mel is a formally trained human geographer and regional development planner who has experience over 35 years in diverse project and programme locations in Sri Lanka, South Asia, Africa, Latin America, Europe and North America. He was the organizing secretary and programme director of the Sarvodaya Movement for nearly ten years, and also was the programme director of the International Liaison Committee for Food Corps Programmes, based in Boston, USA and Puebla, Mexico for six years. Sathis was also a member of Asian Development Bank’s International Inspection Panel. He has been a consultant to the World Bank, ADB, UNDP, UNV, UNICEF, IFAD, AusAID and UNOPs.

Thilak Abeysinghe | CEO

Thilak Abeysinghe is the Chief Executive Officer of Arthavida Intermediary Ltd, a pioneer microfinance company established in 1992. He is a Professional Banker with 33 years of commercial banking experience.

 

He commenced his banking career at Bank of Credit & Commerce (BCCI) in 1983 and moved to Sampath Bank in 1987 as a Junior Executive. During his career spanning to 29 years at Sampath Bank, he held many senior positions including Brach Manager, Relationship Manager, Manager-Human Resources, Senior Manager-Administration, and finally as the Head of Deposits for the Bank. After his retirement from Sampath Bank, he worked at Pan Oceanic Bank operating in Soloman Islands as the Manager-Operations before taking up the present position.

 

He holds the Associate Membership (AIB) from Institute of Bankers-Sri Lanka, Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from University of Wales (UK). He also holds a Diploma in Management from Central Bank of Sri Lanka. He has also undergone Professional Training at National University of Singapore (NUS), National Institute of Banking Management-PUNE (INDIA) He also served as the Treasurer, Vice President of Association of Professional Bankers (APB), Sri Lanka.

 

Dr.Bisowela Gunasekara | Consultant

Dr.Bisowela Gunasekara received his doctorate from Victoria Global University, India for Micro Finance and he is a retired Banker with 26 years experienced, out of which, 20 years in Peoples’ Bank and 6 years in Seylan Merchant Bank holding various positions such as Branch Manager and Mahaweli Development Scheme Manager etc.

 

He was the Founder of Micro Finance sector in Sri Lanka and also one of the founder member of of LMFPA and still serving as a Director for those organizations. He is also the Chairman/ MD of Sustainable Appropriate Projects Co Ltd.

 

Since 1992 he is a director of Arthacharya Foundation and for the last 15 years he is serving as a Consultant to Arthavida Intermediary Limited.
